The installation of Fabric ModLoader 1.18/1.17.1 and its mods is simple, it contains a full and straightforward installer that will help everyone, but as many have doubts on how to install mods with fabric 1.16, we will teach in this brief tutorial. But first, there are some things you need to know.
What Fabric API is?
Fabric API is a core library for several kinds of stuff required by mods. Fabric Modloader an alternative to Forge
Fabric API is part of a big project called Fabric which provides tools to the community to create maps and mods. Preparing everything to install Fabric and its mods
First of all, you need to choose the client that you will use to make the installation. There are two options, the MultiMC Client or the Vanilla Launcher.
Installing Fabric in MultiMC Launcher
- If you choose to use the recommended option, you have to go to the Fabric website, click on the tab “use” and search for the MultiMC launcher. - Then, start MultiMC and click “Add Instance” in the top-left, select “Import from ZIP” and paste the link in the text field. Next, set an instance name, like “Fabric ModLoader” to avoid the “MultiMC” default name. To finish, press OK.
- Your Fabric ModLoader instance is ready to go. Remember that it is necessary to install Fabric API too.

- In the Windows Start menu, click Run, then enter %appdata%\.minecraft\in the box.
- Create a mod folder inside your Minecraft directory if it does not exist yet and put the Fabric API file in it. Then, on the boot screen, you will see that Fabric is installed. And now everything is ready to add mods to the game!
Installing Fabric in Vanilla Launcher (Recommended)
- First, you have to upgrade Minecraft to 1.16.2.
- Download the Fabric Modloader 1.16.2 and Fabric API.
- Open the Fabric Installer and press “Install.”
- To install the Fabric API.
- In the Windows Start menu, click Run, then enter %appdata%\.minecraft\in the box.
- Create a mod folder inside your Minecraft directory if it does not exist yet and put the Fabric API file in it.
- A new game version and profile will be created in the vanilla launcher’s menu, which you can now use to launch Fabric.
How to install mods 1.18/1.17.1 with fabric ModLoader?
To add a mod to your Fabric client, select the mod you want to add and download the jar file of it, keep in mind that it has to be made for Fabric. Drop the file into the mod folder. And that is it: the mod is added to the Minecraft!
