Optifine 1.16 Settings
Does OptiFine improve FPS?
It has very customizable settings, such as smooth lighting, brightness, performance, animations, texture packs, etc. These settings can help you customize your settings and maybe play on forward or even extreme. It is a really helpful mod.
If you don’t know what a setting means, you can just hover your mouse over it and it will explain what is it for.
Optifine supports HD textures
The most larger type of settings is the “animations”:
- Water animated
- Fire animated
- Redstone animated
- Flame animated
- Terrain animated
- Textures animated
- Lava animated
- Portal animated
- Smoke animated
- Water particles
- Portal particles
And more and more. You just have to select which one you and on or off. It is remarkable to say that if you turn all of them off, your Minecraft will run even faster, but the animations will be very different. If you have a really good computer, you may want to turn everything on in order to enjoy more the Minecraft experience.
Any of the changes you make will cause your map to reload or also the chunks to have to reload themselves because it has to reload every part of it. So, make sure you have a little time and you are willing to deal with a little bit of lag when you are messing with the settings.
The main settings of this mod are called “video settings” that is more general. You can change settings like:
- Graphics
- Smooth lighting
- Performance
- Brightness
- Clouds
- Texture Packs
- Shaders

That is all?
There are more settings that can change almost everything in the way the Minecraft looks. Basically, anything that you do is going to affect your framerate either for the better or for the worse. Things that are either in the distance or very near will look different. You will have to custom the settings in order to see what you want in the way you want.
There is a function called Antialiasing which when turned on needs the game to be restarted. This process is important to take advantage of the setting. This setting will smooth out jagged edges. It doesn’t make a lot of difference but it can be something that would be useful if you want to improve the graphics.
This is a mod that is recommended to people that have slow computers because it has a lot of advantages. After the initial install you may see some glitches and in terms of chunk loading, something might not be loaded completely. This is because is the first time of running minecraft optifine 1.15.2.
